What has been the biggest challenge in your job/career journey?
When I was in college I realized why I was not successful in some of my classes as the terms were technically challenging. I was tested for a learning disability...my personal biggest challenge is asking for help from colleagues when I need help spelling or going over documents because I feel like I’m burdening them with lots of work.
Are you looking to make any job or career changes?
Right now I’m comfortable doing my independent consultant with Jamberry until my daughter goes to school in September. After that I would be happy to go back to my ECE career as I really miss it. I have given myself time to recover slowly and in a healthy way before jumping back in to the field. Working as an ECE can be very demanding on your body, especially working with toddlers - lifting them, sitting on the floor and rubbing backs.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself when you were starting out on your career journey?
To be not free to ask questions when in doubt. We’re not all perfect and we all learn at different speeds. If you have questions make sure they are getting answered and not ignored. No question is a stupid question.
What advice would you give to someone who is trying to make a career decision?
Don’t feel like you’re alone. If you make a mistake you can learn from it. If you fail the first try again, you're never too old to learn something new.
